Ethereal but powerful. Crystalized vocals with a cerebral sound. Anie Delgado is an anomaly. Her unique but definitive pop sound recently caught the attention of Billboard. Her single, “Dancing While the World is On Fire,” inspired by the impending climate crisis earned a spot on Billboard’s top pop songs for the week and was celebrated for its timeliness and undeniable catchiness.
Anie Delgado has always been insistent on doing good alongside doing what she loves. Even in her humble beginnings of playing unreleased songs at underground music venues like The Bowery Electric, Gold Sounds Bar, and Pianos in NYC, Anie donated her ticket sales to Brooklyn Pride Center, an organization that serves LGBTQ+ youth in Brooklyn. She partnered with youth climate organization Zero Hour to raise awareness for the climate crisis after befriending activist Jamie Margolin by sliding into her DMs after reading her moving book Youth to Power and formerly served as a Global Ambassador for CHOOOSE. Anie says, “so much of the inspiration I get to write music comes from my love for people. I really just love humans. I love putting good into the world with my music, so why wouldn’t I echo that in my actions?”
Friends and family always knew that Anie would soon depart her traditional upbringing in small town Florida, but it was Anie who knew first. Born in Miami and raised in Melbourne, Florida, Cuban-American artist Anie Delgado was immersed in a childhood full of her Cuban heritage. Anie realized she was given a gift and her dream was born. Receiving her first guitar at the age of nine, Anie journaled and wrote as a young teen inspired by artists like Taylor Swift, Cher, and Carly Simon as she dug deep and explored her voice figuratively, lyrically, and literally.
New York City beckoned, and after an audition in Miami, Anie was accepted into The American Musical and Dramatic Academy whose alumni include Jason Derulo, Anthony Ramos and Paul Sorvino. Despite her academic success and pressure to attend traditional college and pursue a career in law or medicine, a few weeks after high school graduation, an 18-year old Anie Delgado arrived in the Big Apple to major in Integrated Performing Arts. The competitive and highly rigorous program sealed an already strong work-ethic and melded with a laser-focused understanding of the multiple facets of performance and entertainment.
Upon completion of the program, armed with the tools and experience of living in NYC, she was cast in the Buddy: A Buddy Holly Story musical for a two-month residency at The Palace Theatre in the Dells. Realizing she was moving away from her goal of writing and performing her own music, she left the indie film and theater scene in Manhattan and visited Los Angeles and ended up staying to pursue music.
Just after moving to LA, Anie met producers PJ Bianco (The Jonas Brothers, ARIZONA, Demi Lovato) and Nick Lee (Baby Jake, Stray Kids). PJ and Nick honed in on her raw talent producing her self-written first single “Galaxy.” Her debut single “Galaxy” caught the attention of manager Kelly Blakely, and soon after Anie joined Blakely Entertainment and spent 2020 co-writing her debut EP with songwriter/artist/producer Sam Nicolosi (Warner Chapell / Seeking Blue).
