Becoming Young Drops Reimagined Version of “Stand Down”

Nashville, TN – Nashville-based indie-pop artist, Brandon Calano, who performs under the alias Becoming Young, teamed up with co-writer Jake Puliti and producer Austin Shawn to release a fan-favorite song with new energy. Calano debuted his single, “Stand Down” in May of this year and has decided to give the song another life through a second rendition of “Stand Down (Reimagined).” The single is available to download and stream on all platforms.

Becoming Young stated that “Stand Down” is a song with two sides. “[The song] is a calling to find the courage to be vulnerable and let someone into your life,” explains Calano. Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Vance Joy), who produced the first rendition of “Stand Down,” highlighted the most vulnerable layers of the song. However, vulnerability takes courage and something bold from within the heart; that’s where Austin Shawn came in. Calano and Shawn, his long-time producer, spent many late nights trying to bring forth the bold duality hidden under the surface of “Stand Down.” Listeners can finally hear the newest version of the song that exemplifies the strength and power of transparency in the light of vulnerable love. Drawing inspiration from Bastille, this indie-pop track is an electrifying perspective of the same words he had written. “I believe it now more fully captures the essence of how the song has always felt in my heart. I hope that “Stand Down (Reimagined)” gives you the courage to tell that special person in your life how you really feel.”

Becoming Young is a name that represents the journey to let go of everything we are not, so we can become who we are meant to be all along. The Colorado native moved to Nashville in 2019 to pursue music and has since been hailed by Forbes as an artist “brimming with intrigue, angst, and heartbreak.” By fusing pop, rock, and narrative singer-songwriter genres, Becoming Young has set a standard for authenticity and swagger. The pop artist released his first album, Feeling Single, in September 2020. The eight songs have received algorithmic and editorial support, catapulting him well past nine million global streams.

While touring through Seattle, Calano met with producer Ryan Hadlock, and the pair quickly began working on several cuts for Becoming Young’s 2021 record, The Songs I Wrote You. This haunting collection, which Calano describes as his most honest offering yet, has captivated audiences across the country. His refreshingly restless perspective has placed Becoming Young on an electric incline that won’t be stopping anytime soon.
